Taking Charge
Taking charge of your bone health can be done with a few easy steps:
- Print the List of Risk Factors.
- Check off all of the risk factors that apply to you.
- Show the list to your doctor and ask your doctor if you should have a bone mineral density test (DXA or whatever testing method your doctor uses).
- Work at changing the risk factors that you can, such as quitting smoking, improving your diet and increasing weight-bearing exercise.
- If you are at risk, or if your BMD is lower than -1.0, ask your doctor if Fosteum is right for you. Your doctor can provide you with samples of Fosteum.
- Be sure you have all of your questions answered by your doctor.
