Taking Charge

Taking charge of your bone health can be done with a few easy steps:

  1. Print the List of Risk Factors.
  2. Check off all of the risk factors that apply to you.
  3. Show the list to your doctor and ask your doctor if you should have a bone mineral density test (DXA or whatever testing method your doctor uses).
  4. Work at changing the risk factors that you can, such as quitting smoking, improving your diet and increasing weight-bearing exercise.
  5. If you are at risk, or if your BMD is lower than -1.0, ask your doctor if Fosteum is right for you. Your doctor can provide you with samples of Fosteum.
  6. Be sure you have all of your questions answered by your doctor.
